After finishing most of the other renovation projects in the house, I finally got around to my studio space. When I first set up the studio in our basement, the space was unfinished cinderblock wall and open joists. I set everything up in the corner by a window and years later I’m still set up in the same corner, but it definitely looks different than before!
After adding framing and insulation, I sheathed the space in plywood before drywalling so that it would be easier to hang the shelving system later.
I built the cabinets and shelves out of birch plywood, and added some color via retro colored laminate. The floors are natural slate, which runs through the basement renovations. There are still a few things left to do, but overall the space has an updated Brady Bunch vibe, and that’s groovy :)
Oh, and for those of you that are justifiably skeptical that I work in a space that’s that tidy, you are correct. The space looks like a tornado came through most of the time. And I also didn’t show you the small attached room that houses the sink and all of my messy/loud tools. I assure you that the tool room is always a huge mess!
