About

“I create modern jewelry that merges my graphic design and furniture making backgrounds, with my interest in mid-20th century design.”

I began my creative career as a freelance graphic designer, while working in that field I honed the process of taking an idea and expressing it in a simple and graphic way. I have also always had a need to work with my hands and have maintained ongoing hobbies in glass blowing, woodworking, and furniture making.

Several years ago I started taking jewelry-making classes at our local art center. I really enjoyed the opportunities offered by the scale and process, it seemed like a great way to incorporate my graphics background with my love of making objects.

When my wife’s career took us to a new city, I had to dramatically down size my studio space. It seemed like the perfect time to focus on jewelry as my primary creative and business pursuit. I developed a body of work and started participating in art festivals as well as sending work to a limited number of galleries. The rest is history I guess!

My work is inspired by the designers of the mid-20th century. I’m drawn to how design of that era can be so uncluttered and sparse but also playful and optimistic. I hope that you find some of those qualities in my work as well.

If you haven’t done so already, please sign up for my Studio Insiders mailing list where you will receive my quarterly newsletter as well as first access to new collections and limited edition pieces. Also, be sure to follow me on social media for behind the scenes looks at new jewelry, cute dogs, and house renovations.
